Habersham Marketplace Hosting “Jazz on the Lawn” to Benefit Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity
Proceeds Directed to Women Build 2011

Beaufort, SC - August 19, 2011 - The Habersham Marketplace will host Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity’s “Jazz on the Lawn” featuring local blues band Blue Mudd on Thursday, August 25, 2011, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $20 by calling the Habitat for Humanity office at (843) 522-3500 or at the Habersham Marketplace beginning at 6 p.m. the evening of the event. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Women Build 2011.

“We’re thrilled to offer our marketplace as a venue for this important event,” said Habersham Marketplace Merchant’s Council President Leslie Pickel. “We want to help give back to our community any way we can and are honored to host.”

Women Build is a project created by Habitat for Humanity International, and involves the funding and construction of a house by local women. This year’s Women Build is Lowcountry Habitat’s second of these initiatives– the first Women Build was in 2007 and resulted in a house on Prince Street in downtown Beaufort.

The organization generally begins building when they’ve raised $25,000, which is approximately half of an entire house sponsorship.  “Jazz on the Lawn” is one of several efforts to meet the halfway point.

The Habersham Marketplace is located at 13 Market St. in the Habersham Community, located off of Joe Frazier Road in Beaufort. For more information, event schedule and band listings, visit www.habershammarketplace.com

The Habersham Marketplace is the heart and soul of the “Best Neighborhood Design in America” award winning town of Habersham located just minutes from Downtown Beaufort.  This new urban village boasts a collection of carefully selected iconic restaurants, retail shops, services and nightlife all created and operated by the “best of the best” local owners. The Marketplace is quickly becoming “The Lowcountry’s New Destination” with weekly activities, seasonal festivals, farmers markets, and fun filled streets set in a safe walkable village complete with vibrant active patios and plazas.

About Habersham

My Photo
Habersham, SC
Habersham is a new, coastal town in South Carolina offering more than 1,000 properties including homes, town homes and condominiums. Our town plan, by Duany Plater-Zyberk, is based on the architectural charm that is reminiscent of southern cities such as Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. Lovely streetscapes and traditional southern architecture encourage homeowners to build relationships within Habersham as they stroll along the neighborhood’s quiet oak-lined streets, scenic woodlands, footbridges, walking trails and waterfront parks. With an array of activities, residents enjoy chatting with friends while picking-up mail at the Habersham Post Office; spending the day at a pool located on one of the connected sea islands; catching fish, crabs and shrimp from one of the neighborhood’s docks or lounging in one of Habersham’s parks under ancient live oaks while immersed in a novel. For those who love the water, homeowners can launch their boats from Habersham Creek and explore all of Beaufort's beautiful waterways and sea islands.
