Premier Event Featuring Artists, Craftsmen, and Antiques at Habersham

The picturesque town of Habersham in Beaufort, South Carolina will be the site of the premier event Artisans & Antiques at Habersham on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 10 am – 4 pm. Admission and parking is free to this one day event.

Dealers and artisans from South Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania will fill the marketplace with antiques, new & vintage clothing, accessories, home décor, pottery, fine and folk art, furniture, quilts, dolls, linens, carvings, jewelry, shoes, children’s clothing, sweet grass baskets, coastal and nautical art, Lowcountry handmade furniture, soaps, and more. Specialty chocolates, fine breads, cupcakes, and desserts, as well as light luncheon fare will be available in the marketplace. Two of Habersham’s restaurants, Piace Pizzeria and Berto’s TexMex, will be open all day as well.

Heidi Brueggeman, co-promoter and owner of The Boxwood Cottage, exclaims about the venue and participants: “Habersham is a gorgeous and inviting place; we are pleased to be able to utilize the Marketplace for a wonderful gathering of exceptional vendors”. Heidi Brueggeman is also the Co-Promoter of a 32-year-old annual arts and crafts event in Northeastern Ohio.

Town of Habersham Hosts Fifth Annual Beaufort Twilight Run

From the very first year that the Beaufort Twilight Run was established as a fundraiser for Riverview Charter School in Beaufort, SC the event has been a major success! While a scenic running festival for all ages through one of the nation's most successful New Urbanist developments might be considered an automatic draw, it's the hard work of Jody Hayward and her group of Riverview volunteers that have brought the event to it's 5th year anniversary!

Thousands of runners, walkers, kids and spectators will arrive in the coastal town of Habersham beginning Friday, March 22nd for early sign in and the traditional pre-race runners' pasta dinner at Piace Pizza in the town's Marketplace. The main events, an 8K run, 5K run, 5K walk and Kid's Run, take place on Saturday, March 23rd and followed by the annual post race oyster roast that is open to the runners and public. When we heard that our modest coastal town of Habersham, SC was recently mentioned in a Wall Street Journal article with the likes of Prince Charles and crystal tycoon, Nadja Swarovski, our ears perked up! Another prominent name in the article, Andres Duany, however, is often mentioned when Habersham's master plan is being discussed. Duany, a Miami-based architect and urban planner with ties to some of the premiere developments in the country, such as Seaside, Florida, is cited frequently in the article.  The article discusses the increase of minimalist design in exclusive resorts. His town planning firm, DPZ & Company, was responsible for helping to create the New Urbanist design that makes Habersham so special. Read more...

(Beaufort, SC) -  Many would-be-Irish (and some who are Irish) join in this joyous celebration of Irish history, music, food, and culture featuring an ‘Evening in Ireland’ in conjunction with the Beaufort Irish Festival on Friday, March 1 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM in the Habersham Marketplace. The evening street festival, as a part of the ongoing First Friday series sponsored by 94.5 the Coast and Butler Chrysler Dodge Jeep, will feature authentic Irish music by award winning entertainer Frank Emerson and local favorite Billy Drysdale. An array of fine Irish foods such as cottage pie, corned beef, and Irish stew will be served from select Marketplace restaurants along with pints of Murphy’s Irish Ale. Join your friends on the street with a pint or glass of wine and tap your feet to the sounds and culture of Ireland.
